Dr Heather Mack

Dr Heather G Mack practices in general ophthalmology with interests in medical retina, glaucoma and paediatrics.Dr Mack studied Medicine at the University of Melbourne and Royal Melbourne Hospital, and graduated in 1984. Heather then undertook training in ophthalmology at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne. She became a Fellow of both the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 1993, and went on to study for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in molecular biology of eye development at the Howard Florey Institute, University of Melbourne from which she graduated in 1997.
She then undertook a Fellowship at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School, specialising in retinal degenerations. She now practices in general ophthalmology with interests in Medical Retina, Glaucoma and Paediatrics. She is involved in directing ophthalmologists’ continuing professional education and teaching medical students ophthalmology in her consulting rooms. In 2003 she completed her MBA and plays a valuable role on the Retina Australia Grants Committee, assessing research for funding.
Dr Mack has been in private practice at Vision Eye Institute Blackburn South since 1997 and Vision Eye Institute Footscray since 1993. Dr Mack also consults at Vision Retinal Institute Eastern in Box Hill.
