Dr Nandor Jaross specialises in medical retina. He has special interest in management of diabetic retinopathy as well as many other retinal conditions.

Dr Nandor Jaross studied ophthalmology and later practiced at the University Department of Ophthalmology in Debrecen, Hungary from 1983-88.  Immigrating to Australia in 1988, Nandor worked as a specialist ophthalmologist at the Royal Darwin Hospital and was Head of the Mobile Eye unit. In this period he was recipient of the WHO travelling fellowship, Rotary Vocational Excellence Award and the Commanding Officer’s Medal.  Completing his studies at the Adelaide University and was awarded a PhD in Medicine in 2003. Nandor is also fluent in Hungarian, English, French, German, Russian, and basic Spanish.

Nandor has won numerous prizes from the Hungarian College of Ophthalmologists as well as receiving the Hospital Access Program Grant (HAP) in 1994 as well as the “Katherine District Hospital Second Theatre Grant” in 1995 which provided new surgical equipment to remote communities in the Northern Territory.

Dr Jaross has published many articles in his field in Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology and the European Journal of Ophthalmology as well as presented at over 20 conferences.
